The Canada-India B2B Partnership Summit on Life Sciences, hosted from January 21 to 23, 2010 in Vancouver, British Columbia, brought together more than 150 stakeholders from industry, academia, and government from Canada and India to explore how bilateral B2B partnerships could help SMEs to achieve R&D and business objectives, and partnership development approaches that are well-suited to companies in life sciences. The highlight of the event was a roundtable discussion on the key opportunities and challenges facing Canadian and Indian life science companies when developing partnerships; specific requirements and priorities for SMEs; and recommendations on how to foster successful alliances in this sector.
A key outcome of the Summit was the development of B2B partnership-development guidelines that can be used by partnership-development organizations and innovation agencies in Canada and India to facilitate the development of new alliances between life science companies. The guidelines and other feedback acquired during the Summit will also support the creation of a BC-India B2B Partnering Service for SMEs in life sciences. These strategic initiatives aim to help SMEs and partnership-development organizations in BC, across Canada, and India to benefit from systematic, coordinated, and targeted development of strong, long-term B2B partnerships.
This event was organized and hosted by the Ministry of Small Business, Technology and Economic Development, Government of British Columbia, and ISTPCanada, in collaboration with the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) and the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII).
Distinguished guests from the life science communities of BC and India convene at the opening ceremony of the Canada-India B2B Summit on January 21, 2010 in Vancouver, BC.
