In Brazil, ISTPCanada partners with FAPESP and FAPEMIG on the delivery of the Canada-Brazil program.

FAPESP

FAPESP is a public foundation, funded by the taxpayer in the State of São Paulo, Brazil, with the mission to support research projects in higher education and research institutions, in all fields of knowledge. FAPESP invested approximately US$420 million in research projects in 2009, supporting more than ten thousand fellowships for undergraduate and graduate students and a sizable portfolio of exploratory academic research, mostly fundamental in nature.  

ISTPCanada and FAPESP have jointly funded four Canada-Brazil R&D projects in priority areas such as information and communications technology, energy and environment.

FAPEMIG

FAPEMIG is a foundation that aims to influence and foster science, technological and scientific innovation the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Its budget is guaranteed by the State constitution and amounts to one percent of the current budget revenues. In 2010, this corresponded to about R$300 million. The funds finance research projects, grants, supporting scientific events, disseminating science, and other related activities. The foundation recently initiated joint investments with companies in to stimulate innovation and transform the knowledge generated in universities and research centers into economic and social benefits for society.
