In China, ISTPCanada partners with the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) and China Association for International Exchange of Personnel (CAIEP) on delivery of the Canada-China program.
The Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST)
The Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) leads the development, management and implementation of Science and Technology (S&T) strategic plans and policies and regulations for the People’s Republic of China. With responsibility for the development of the National Basic Research Program, the National High-Tech R&D Program and the S&T Enabling Program, MOST aims to serve socioeconomic growth by coordinating basic research, frontier technology research, research on social sciences, and other key technologies.
Since 2007, ISTPCanada and MOST have co-funded 17 Canada-China R&D projects with an emphasis on agriculture, energy, environment, life sciences and biotechnology, information and communications technologies and nanotechnology.
China Association for International Exchange of Personnel (CAIEP)
The China Association for International Exchange of Personnel (CAIEP) is a nationwide government-sponsored institution that supports the international exchange of specialized technical and managerial personnel. The Association aims to promote China’s cooperation with other nations in industry, agriculture, finance, science and technology, education, medicine, and culture through the international exchange of personnel.
ISTPCanada and CAIEP jointly funded five Canada-China partnership development activities, with emphasis on priority areas such as life sciences, renewable energy, sustainable agriculture and information and communications technologies.
