Collaborative R&D Programs
Collaborative R&D programs support the development of R&D projects that bring Canadian companies and research organizations together with their counterparts in other countries for the joint development of innovative products or processes.
They aim to stimulate collaborative R&D activities that: demonstrate industrial relevance and high commercial potential; typically engage small-to-medium-sized companies; and aim to deliver economic and social benefits to both nations.
Collaborative R&D programs include the:
• Conduct of bilateral or multilateral Calls for Proposals (CFPs);
• Evaluation and funding of collaborative projects; and
• Management, stewardship and monitoring of funded projects.
Collaborative R&D projects funded by ISTPCanada cross many scientific disciplines, technologies and industrial sectors, including biotechnology, clean technology, information and communications technologies, digital media, agriculture, automotive, natural resource management, public safety and aerospace. The participation of Canadian companies is mandatory in all collaborative R&D projects, and the involvement of academia and exchange of young researchers is strongly encouraged.
