The 18th China Yangling Agricultural Hi-Tech Fair (CAF 2011)

Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) and International Science and Technology Partnerships Canada (ISTPCanada) are pleased to invite Canadian companies to participate in a technology and business partnering mission to the most comprehensive annual agricultural high-tech fair in China.
The CAF has the full support of China's leading national and regional governments, such as the State Ministries of Science and Technology, Agriculture, Finance, Commerce, Education and the Government of Shaanxi Province. The Yangling Agricultural Hi-Tech Industries Demonstration Zone in the Province of Shaanxi of China is a unique, key national agricultural base that focuses on modern agricultural and international cooperation. In 2010, this event had over 1,500 enterprises with exhibit, attracted over one million visitors including 10,000 business people from over 20 countries and generated an estimated CAD $4 billion in trade and investment.
During the CAF 2011, there will be various exhibits and demonstrations. Some special events include agri-food trade fair, agri-machinery trade fair, agri-production materials trade fair, wine tasting trade fair, seed industry exhibit, animal husbandry exhibit, irrigation and water-saving technology exhibit, and more. The Opportunity: Technology and Business Partnering
The mission is of value for Canadian companies seeking opportunities, partners and technology cooperation in agricultural technology in China.
Delegates will discover new opportunities by meeting potential R&D partners, business partners, key government and business leaders. Key activities include one-on-one meetings and networking, briefing sessions on doing business in China with keynote speakers, and seminars. Delegates may also showcase their technologies and products, and conduct promotional sales in the Canada Pavilion at CAF 2011 in Yangling.
The mission offers participants the following support:
a) Research and technology profiles and presentations of companies and researchers in specific areas of interest to the participant;
b) Evaluation of and connection with potential research and business partners;
c) Potential financial contribution, through ISTPCanada-managed competitive process, for joint R&D projects with Chinese companies respectively;
d) Opportunity to exhibit in the Canada Pavilion (see below for details) and to participate at Science and Innovation seminars.
Potential Financial Assistance for Canadian Companies Joining the Delegation
ISTPCanada invites interested companies to contact us and register your intention to join the delegation. We will ascertain the eligibility and, at a later stage, confirms the availability of the financial assistance.
Eligible Participants are technology researchers and senior management members of research-based Canadian companies whose technologies and products are for application in the agriculture and agri-food sectors. Participants must join the Technology and Business Partnering. A maximum of 2 representatives per participating company may be accepted, subject to approval from ISTPCanada.
Financial Assistance, up to 50% of eligible cost of participation, or a maximum of CDN$2,500 per participant, will be provided to eligible participants (sponsorship is limited and on a first-come-first-serve basis). Eligible expenses include travel, accommodations, meals and incidentals as per Treasury Board Canada guidelines. The normal stacking limit of Total Government Assistance (federal, provincial and municipal assistance for the same eligible expenditures) for this mission is 75%.
