R&D COLLABORATION WITH BRAZIL

2009 Canada-Brazil R&D Call for Proposals

2009 Canada-Brazil R&D Calls for Proposals (both Call 1 and Call 2) are now closed, with estimated annoucment of selected projects in March 2010.

Please note there are three simultaneous calls for proposals: two(2) for R&D projects (these are listed below) and one (1) for partnership development activies .


Call 1: Call for R&D Projects between Canada and São Paulo, Brazil

Deadline:  December 14, 2009

This Canada-Brazil Call for Proposals (CFP) for collaborative research and development (R&D) projects will be funded by International Science and Technology Partnerships Canada (ISTPCanada) in Canada, and FAPESP in the State of São Paulo, Brazil.

This CFP is open to R&D teams consisting of participants from both Canada and the State of São Paulo, Brazil with the following minimum requirements:

  1. There must be at least one industry participant from each of the countries involved in the project. In the case of the Canadian industry participant, it must be a for-profit company.
  2. The Canadian industry participant must lead the Canadian portion of the project. The Canadian project team should have the capacity to commercialize within 2 years of project completion.
  3. Brazilian participants must be from the State of São Paulo, Brazil.
  4. The project should be innovative, commercially viable and benefit both countries.
  5. The project duration should be up to 24 months.  Projects longer than 24 months will not be considered.
  6. This project should fall under these priority areas:
    •  Information and Communications Technology (ICT) - including Software
    • Energy – specifically Renewable Energy and Fuel Cells
    • Life Sciences – specifically Bio-Health and Medical Technology
  7. A balance of contributions to the project must be seen between both partnering countries.
